TORI FYFE

Nice to meet ya.

I STRIVE TO BRING BACK THE ART AND PROCESS THAT IS FILM PHOTOGRAPHY.

I've always had an interest in photography and a fascination with film cameras. My original inspiration comes from my uncle, a well known film photographer out of Texas. It wasn't until August 2016 that I took a Darkroom Photography class and fell in love with the entire process. I then decided to build a darkroom in my basement. I enjoyed it but I wanted more.

Jet Smith and I took the class together and both shared a similar dream of opening a space for the community to come develop prints, etc. After finding a location, making the decision to transfer all of my equipment to the community space, lots of equipment donations, and MUCH thought...Safelight District was born.

My first camera and my "go-to" is my dad's 35mm Nikon FG-20. He passed down the camera to me, I happened to take a Darkroom Photography class my last semester of college...and here I am. ♥

I hope to gain more experience with medium and large format film photography in the future.
